Significant Millennium Moment
On the night of December 31 1999, my sister
and I were asked to babysit my adorable cousins, Jenny, Patrick, Michael
and Jonathan. It's a night that I will remember for a long time!
Since we live next door to them, my mom,
dad and little sister Kyra, came and we ate Chinese fondue (thinly sliced
beef, chicken and pork, cooked in broth).
It was really nice of them to come spend
the last few hours of the millennium with us! I felt really special! Having
fondue is something we only eat once a year and that is new years eve!
To make it even better, we also ate shrimp! The food was excellent!
As we closer and closer to 12:00, I was
getting really excited! I felt special to live through the new millennium!
I know many people that lost someone in their family before the holidays.
I'm really lucky that all of my family was able to experience what I was
experiencing!
At about 11:58, I started looking at all
of the happy and excited faces all around me and saw how fortunate we where
to have all that we have!
When there where only a couple of seconds
left until the clock struck 12:00, we counted the seconds together, while
watching the fire works that where going on all around the world!
When it was 12:00, we all jumped up with
big loving smiles on our faces and started wishing each other all a happy
new year! We also went outside, and lit sparklers. My mom took a picture,
but unfortunately it didn't turn out, but it stays vividly in my head!
I had a great memorable beginning to start the millennium!!
