Dear Kate,

Oh my goodness! All of that happened because of me? I am so sorry that you have to live through all of that. I guess you want to know how I managed to mess up the future so much, huh? I went to the opening of McDonald’s and ordered a Big Mac but in the 1950’s they hadn’t invented Big Macs yet. I explained what a Big Mac was, and the McDonald people said it sounded like a great idea so they made the first Big Mac ever. I don’t know how that turned into Ronald McDonald taking over North America though. I suppose it’s because they became too famous and too rich too soon.

I had to go and say good-bye to Elvis though. He and I became good friends, and I told him I’d be back soon. So, I went back to the 1950’s and Elvis was very happy to see me. I felt really bad telling him I had to go and that I wouldn’t be back. He really looked sad, maybe even a little depressed! Little old me, Zoe Feder hurt the king of rock n’ roll.

I decided to not go back to the 1950’s because I didn’t want to cause anymore damage. I’ll try to be more careful while I’m in the past from now on. I’m afraid you can’t stop me from travelling through time though. I have a time machine, I know how to use it so I’m going to use it!

So, I had already been to the 1950’s and I didn’t really know where I wanted to go next. I decided to go to the late 1920’s and I met the coolest person there! Let me start from the beginning… I put the hat on, then said 1927 but then I thought something was wrong because it was really dark. It wasn’t dark because it was night either, it was dark because there were no flashing lights or signs and everyone was wearing grey colors. I guess that’s because I went to far back in time, they hadn’t really invented bright lights or clothes. It was starting to depress me because there really wasn’t any bright colors to rest my eyes on. Then I saw an art gallery and thought I could find some colors over there.

I went into the art gallery and found some very beautiful paintings by a woman named Emily Carr. Her paintings were all about forests and landscapes and even Indians. Anyway, I thought wouldn’t it be cool if I went further back in time I could meet her and learn more about her. But you know what would be so cool? If you would find some information about her, and send it to me so that I would know about her ahead of time!

Your friend,

Zoe
